Founded in 1997 by Lowell, MA based musician JEREMY "JRS-1" PARKER, BROKEN BUDDHA RECORDS has consistently over the years proved itself to be an ideal breeding ground for cutting edge, up and coming bands and musicians. The label's seminal release, the self titled debut for THE FREELANCE BISHOPS was heralded by Boston's local jazz/jam band crowd as being a masterpiece, and word spread quickly after the band went on their first national tour later that year. Soon Parker would call upon two good friends to help him out with his new endeavor: "COWBOY" BEN ALMAN and "BIG BEN" HILLMAN the PROFESSOR OF FUNK, who together with Parker also make up the production team known as RJ3 PRODUCTIONS. Since that time, the people from BROKEN BUDDHA have worked with a wide array of gifted artists such as THE POLLOTRONIC ALL-STARS, THE ROYAL FAMILY and blues singer SWEET WILLIE D. Living by the credo "Music for your mind and booty," BROKEN BUDDHA RECORDS continues to put forth sounds that have sonic and emotional depth, yet never loose touch with the funk of those dirty Lowell streets where they came from. With styles ranging from jazz to hip-hop, deep house to Delta blues and beyond, it's music that makes you think without ever losing the groove! In 2007, BIG BEN HILLMAN the PROFESSOR OF FUNK released a hot single entitled "I'M SORRY" featuring guest artists FEE from ONE LOVE and MEYER STATHAM, the former CHUCKLEHEAD front man who would go on to tour with jazz legend JOHN SCOFIELD. This is the first single to be released from his long awaited producer's album entitled "WHAT'S MY NAME?" being released later the same year on BROKEN BUDDHA RECORDS.
